The Red-necked Phalaropes are scarce so far this year. In Delft, an adult female was discovered which also could produce some pictures opportunities. Also nearby a White-winged Tern was reported that still counts for the annual and monthly list. Reason enough to pay a visit after work.
At first I started in the Starrevaart where since yesterday an adult White-winged Tern is present. On arrival I found the bird almost immediately but because of the distance there were no photo opportunities. Quickly I drove to the Red-necked Phalarope that sat only 18 km away. This bird also was immediately found and occasionally came pretty close. Unfortunately, the lighting conditions were not ideal but I managed to take some pictures.
Both birds count for the year list which now stands at 277 species.
