In the past two months I have not really made any trips. Although I did some birding now and then and that led to two new lifers in the Netherlands, a Red-throated Sandpiper on Texel and a Spotted Sandpiper in the province of Zeeland. My year list has grown to 277 species and 23 species still to go. Today was the province of Noord-Holland on the program with the target species, the Aquatic Warbler and the Gull-billed Tern.
Today we started in Zeeland Flanders with an attempt for the Zitting Cisticola in Terneuzen. Followed by a visit to "De Blikken" and then an attempt for a Rosefinch at Oostkapelle. Also some unplanned things happened.
Today was devoted to updating the annual list. Near Hengelo a Pectoral Sandpiper was reported and from there we visited the province of Flevoland
As every year, we also participate in the Top of Holland Day. With a team of four people, Alwin Borhem, Teun van Kessel, Christian Brinkman and myself of course, we had registered under the name "Twitch & Go”. To score some night species we started at 3.00 o'clock in the morning.
It is almost three years ago in May that the weather conditions are good enough for a nice day on the Kamperhoek. The following predictions southeast wind with sunshine are sufficient reasons to drive towards the Kamperhoek.
A report of a Melodious Warbler in Limburg is enough for a visit to the Provence. We also want to visit the Glanville Fritillary butterfly at the Bemerlerberg.
Er staat al de hele week een oostelijke wind en de tellingen op Breskens zien er goed uit. Het is al weer een tijdje geleden dat ik hier heb geteld dus het was weer eens tijd voor een bezoek.
After a journey of nearly six weeks on Sunday morning I arrive back to Uden at 5.30 in the morning. A Greater Sand Plover has been present for a few days just 30 km away and today he is still there. It is a new specie for me so I cannot let him shoot.
