Today was devoted to updating the annual list. Near Hengelo a Pectoral Sandpiper was reported and from there we visited the province of Flevoland
As every year, we also participate in the Top of Holland Day. With a team of four people, Alwin Borhem, Teun van Kessel, Christian Brinkman and myself of course, we had registered under the name "Twitch & Go”. To score some night species we started at 3.00 o'clock in the morning.
It is almost three years ago in May that the weather conditions are good enough for a nice day on the Kamperhoek. The following predictions southeast wind with sunshine are sufficient reasons to drive towards the Kamperhoek.
A report of a Melodious Warbler in Limburg is enough for a visit to the Provence. We also want to visit the Glanville Fritillary butterfly at the Bemerlerberg.
Er staat al de hele week een oostelijke wind en de tellingen op Breskens zien er goed uit. Het is al weer een tijdje geleden dat ik hier heb geteld dus het was weer eens tijd voor een bezoek.
After a journey of nearly six weeks on Sunday morning I arrive back to Uden at 5.30 in the morning. A Greater Sand Plover has been present for a few days just 30 km away and today he is still there. It is a new specie for me so I cannot let him shoot.
Despite a good chance of fog again, we chose to do the Kamperhoek again today. At half past six in the morning I picked up Jan Verhoeven and Thijs Fijen. During the trip it became clear that today we would have no problems with fog.
Saturday morning we started at 7 hours to count migrating birds at the Kamperhoek. Jan Verhoeven, Thijs Fijen, Alwin Borhem, Christian Brinkman and I stood in a thick fog with visibility less than 100 meters. At 10 o’clock we decided to drive across the Trinteldijk toward North-Holland.
